Commissioned by the Brazil Coalition for Restoration and Bioeconomy Finance (BRBFC) and NIL (https://natureinvestmentlab.org/), SPinheiro Consultoria completed in June 2025 a study titled “Mapping of Enterprises of Indigenous and Traditional Populations, Community Funds, and Enabling Organizations.” The report was produced by the SPinheiro team with contributions from Edervan Vieira, a forestry technician and consultant with the NGO – IDESAM and BRBFC, who provided final considerations as well as recommendations aimed at strengthening this ecosystem.
The study is based on a review of updated materials about community enterprises in Brazil, from universities and third-sector entities in Brazil and abroad, and on interviews with local leaders who described the most relevant aspects of their activities, challenges, and practical needs for their growth. After engaging with 110 initiatives, 37 enterprises across different Brazilian biomes were selected, based on criteria and indicators, to form a portfolio of community businesses managed by traditional and Indigenous populations, Community Funds, and Organizations that stand out as service providers.

The report also highlights actors in climate finance and financial mechanisms that are being tested, such as Multi-biome Investment Funds, donations combined with loans, and microcredit systems.
